The days of haphazard development that underpinned the complete absence of proper planning in MICAL are over. Better days are ahead for the constituents of MICAL. There is an opportunity to redirect our efforts towards a sustainable future. The next Member of Parliament for MICAL should seek to achieve the following:

Publish a Constituency Carers Strategy (CCS) providing a complete timetable for its implementation.
The Introduction of a Constituency Carers Register (CCR). An initiative to combat the ‘invisibility’ of our carers and to provide a clear basis for the assessment and planning of services to meet their needs.
To ensure all future developments is future-proofed for climate change and is aligned with proper infrastructure provisions, particularly in public transport, community facilities, green spaces, allotments, housing, & schools etc.
Ensure that theirs a thriving and economically sustainable communities through revitalizing our historic settlements, towns, and villages by supporting economic diversification.
Petition for further amendments to the Planning & Subdivisions Act to ensure greater transparency in the planning process and to ensure residents are fully consulted and have an equal say in major planning decisions.
Take major productive steps to revive the Mayaguana I-Group Development project (which was abandoned by the PLP Administration) to jumpstart the Island’s economy generating wealth and job creation.
Via METFA Travel and promote the Islands of MICAL by participating in tradeshows, Investment and Business Outlook Conferences to resuscitate the economies of the Southern Islands.
Facilitate town hall meetings with proposed Investors interested in the development of Hotels/Resorts and other investment projects in MICAL.
Lobby for the upgrade and construction of new ports throughout MICAL. Utilizing the shipping port in Inagua as a port of entry for the shipment of goods and supplies servicing the southern Islands.

As part of the overall redevelopment and upgrades of Airports in MICAL petition government to make Mayaguana, Inagua, Crooked Island and Acklins Airports an international point of entry.
Via Public-private partnership construct (5) five State of the Art Community Centers of Excellence (CCE) throughout MICAL.
Construct Sporting Facilities and establish a Sports Authority in MICAL.
Lobby for the Rebuilding of Seawalls, roads and upgrades to infrastructural works throughout MICAL.
The Implementation of a Constituency Landscape Strategy to protect our cultural landscapes as a major tourist resource.
Petition for the full implementation of the fundamental reforms in the Planning & Subdivisions Amendment Act 2010. Support economic recovery; by addressing the legacy of over zoning, create walkable, sustainable communities, regulate quarries and place environmental protection at the heart of the planning system.
Petition government to Implement a sustainable public procurement action plan to ensure that all public capital works meet high sustainability standards that incrementally tighten over the coming years.
Support the development of centers of excellence in sustainable building research in MICAL ensuring that construction companies apply cutting edge building science to the design and construction of all new and renovated buildings.
Petition government to fully engage local businesses by issuing contracts to qualify companies for investment & capital works in MICAL.
